Highly experienced, independent forensic audio, video & imagery expert. John was born and bred in Devon, England.
He holds a B.Eng. degree in Electro-Acoustics from the University of Salford and in 2006 received his Ph.D. from McGill University.
His Ph.D. thesis was on the theoretical development and subjective evaluation of a new ambiance extraction upmixer: the system he designed allows you to play stereo audio on a “surround sound” loudspeaker system. The upmixer algorithm was further developed for multichannel cinema audio.
From 2006-2015 he was chief system architect, where he worked on a new earphone for augmented reality, music listening and voice communications.
He is now working on a new loudspeaker project incorporating a microphone pickup system for voice control and automatic acoustic calibration.
